China Southern will launch the first ever flight from Beijing Daxing Airport to Australia with the introduction of a new route from Daxing to Sydney.
Announced by Sydney Airport, the Guangzhou-based airline will start the new four-times weekly service between Daxing and Sydney on December 13. China Southern will use Airbus A330 aircraft with 286 seats – 28 Business and 258 Economy.
“We are proud to be the first airport in Australia offering flights to Beijing Daxing, providing passengers with unprecedented choice and convenience when traveling to Sydney,” said Greg Botham, Group Executive, Aviation Growth & Group Strategy, Sydney Airport.
According to Botham, the market between Sydney and mainland China has recovered to nearly 90% during the first half of the year, peaking at 97% in July.
The new route to Daxing will be China Southern's third to Sydney, where it currently offers flights from the Australian city to Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
